About the opportunity:

 


This is an influential leadership role where you’ll drive international development and
humanitarian programmes that amplify the voices of the poor and vulnerable. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will oversee a skilled team, lead strategic partnerships, and ensure effective programme design, delivery, and evaluation. This role combines strategic vision, relationship management, and operational excellence to make a tangible impact in communities around the world.

 


Role description:

 

You’ll lead Caritas Aotearoa’s international aid and humanitarian initiatives, managing global partnerships, guiding programme strategy, ensuring compliance and impact, and championing Catholic social teaching through transformative development work.

 



Responsibilities will include:

 


● Leading and managing international development and humanitarian programmes
● Building and sustaining strong global and local partnerships
● Overseeing programme design, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation
● Driving strategic planning and reporting across all programme areas
● Representing Caritas Aotearoa in national and international forums

 


This role will suit someone with all or some of the following 
background/experience/qualities:



  • Proven leadership in international development or humanitarian work (7+ years)

 

  • Strong relationship management and partnership-building capability

 

  • Skilled in programme management, budgeting, and impact reporting

 

  • An understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and development principles

 

  • Flexible, resilient, and culturally aware, with the ability to travel internationally
