This is a great opportunity for an experienced BAS Accountant seeking a part-time, in-office role within a Wellington-based accounting practice. The position offers flexibility around school hours while providing meaningful, hands-on work across compliance and advisory services. It would suit someone looking to re-enter the workforce or step back into accounting on a reduced-hours basis.

 

 

Role description:

 

Working closely with senior team members, you will deliver compliance and accounting services for a portfolio of business clients. The role focuses on annual accounts, tax compliance and client support, with flexibility on hours while remaining office-based and fully engaged with the team.

 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Annual accounts preparation and tax compliance
  • GST, PAYE, FBT and income tax services
  • Assistance with advisory support services which include client sale/purchase transactions, restructuring and tax advice.
  • Statutory returns, surveys and client obligations
  • Systems support and process improvement projects

 

 

This role will suit someone with all or some of the following background/experience/qualities:

  • Qualified and/or experienced BAS Accountant
  • Working knowledge of NZ tax and compliance
  • Experience using Xero accounting software
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Returning to the workforce or seeking reduced hours
