Garden of York in Levin is a retail store providing quality, fresh fruit and vegetables to the local community. We are currently looking for a Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining and evaluating records of financial transactions using both manual account books and computerised accounting systems.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working at least 30 hours per week. The hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $35.00, depending on your skills, qualifications, and work experience.
Key Duties Include:
- Keeping financial records, including GST, PAYE, time and wage records for staff, wage calculations and payments, accounts payable/receivable, and daily income and expenses
- Maintaining and balancing accounts using manual and computerised systems
- Preparing invoices, purchase orders, and bank deposits
- Sending customer invoices and recording payments received
- Processing payroll accurately and in a timely manner
- Reconciling accounts against monthly bank statements
- Monitoring cash flow and lines of credit
- Preparing and producing financial statements, budgets, expenditure reports, and analyses using account books, ledgers, and accounting software
- Gathering and organising relevant data and working closely with the accountant to ensure information is accessible and accurate
- Verifying recorded transactions and reporting any irregularities to the owner
- Preparing forms that report business tax entitlements and obligations, such as GST paid and collected (when required)
- Performing any other duties assigned by the owner
To Be Successful, You Must Have:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience, or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher
(Relevant fields include, but are not limited to: bookkeeping, accounting, finance, commerce, money handling, or related fields.) - Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
