Position: Panel Beater

Location: Otahuhu, Auckland 1062

Days and Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 30 hours

Contract Type: Waged, Full Time – Permanent (30 hours a week)

 

Job Summary

We are looking for one Full-Time Panel Beater who will be an integral part of reconditioning team with plenty of opportunities to shine in full function panel beater duties. Your focus will be on delivering quality panel work - car structure and undercarriage. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years’ experience, thrive in a fast-paced environment, want to learn and apply new ideas and enjoy working as part of a successful team.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Read and understand measurements and specifications
  • Remove damaged panels and components by unbolting or cutting them away
  • Repair damaged body panels with specialist tools and equipment
  • Use measuring, mechanical and hydraulic equipment to restore vehicles to factory clearances
  • Cut and join replacement sections or damaged panels using correct welding procedures
  • Repair dents with plastic fillers, and file, grind and sand repaired surfaces using power and hand tools
  • Fit the repaired panels on the framework of the vehicle and refit body hardware, such as door locks and door trims
  • Replace badly damaged sections with new or second-hand panels
  • Realign chassis and body frames using chassis aligners and measuring systems
  • Remove and replace accident-related mechanical items
  • Remove and replace auto-electric components
  • Help vehicle body builders to build custom-designed, speciality or vintage vehicles.
  • Sandblast a surface off dirt, rust, old paint, and grease, prepare it for refinishing and repair using pneumatic, electrical, or mechanical equipment.
  • Masks specified areas to protect from abrading action.
  • Examine finished vehicle components to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Carry out all internal and underbody vehicle stripping and re-assembly to correct specifications and within the appropriate timeframes.
  • Continually expand knowledge of the role, relevant products and services, by reading all communications and information.
  • Always Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Maintain a professional image through a high standard of appearance, behaviour, presentation of work and by wearing the uniform as prescribed.
  • Attending team meetings and training sessions during or outside working hours

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of continuous experience in Panel Beating
  • Relevant Trade Qualification, preferably NZ (or the ability to prove competency and experience)
  • Diverse panel beating knowledge base
  • Class 1 Full Driver’s License (essential)
  • Strong work ethics and quality workmanship
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written command of English
  • A motivated and driven ‘Make it Happen’ attitude
  • Clean professional appearance and positive manner
