We are seeking physically fit and reliable Silvilculture Operator to join our team operating
throughout Otago. Our company specialises in managing the wilding
pine issue and controlling invasive vegetation across forestry and rural land areas.
This role involves demanding and continuous physical work in outdoor environments,
often across steep and rugged terrain. The position plays a key role in supporting
sustainable forestry operations and environmental land management across the region.
- Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.
Applicants must have the following as per employer’s requirement:
- Applicants must be physically fit to perform strenuous manual labour daily and willing to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Chainsaw experience preferred (training may be provided).
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Applicants must pass pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record.
- Must have a driver licence
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Cutting and removing wilding pine trees using chainsaws and hand tools
- Surveying and inspecting forestry blocks for weed infestations
- Spraying and chemical control of gorse and other invasive plant species
- Pruning and vegetation maintenance within forestry plantations
- Identifying and reporting problem areas requiring treatment
- Maintaining tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Adhering strictly to health and safety procedures
- Working collaboratively within a field-based team
