We are seeking diligent and safety-conscious Senior Tyre Technicians to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient fitting, balancing, and repairing of tyres on a variety of vehicles. They'll play a crucial role in ensuring our customers, vehicles are safe and roadworthy.

Responsibilities:
- Technical Service & Operations
- Strip & Fit: Perform professional stripping and fitting of tyres across various commercial vehicles.
- Puncture Repairs: Execute puncture repairs strictly according to management guidelines and industry standards.
- Safe Setup: Ensure all vehicles, trailers, or machines are set up sensibly and safely prior to work to avoid slips or dangerous jacking situations.
- Methodical Assembly: Work on vehicles in a step-by-step manner to ensure all removed parts are reinstalled correctly.
- Final Verification: Conduct a mandatory final check of the vehicle before departing the company or customer premises to ensure roadworthiness.
- Tool Maintenance: Regular maintenance and servicing of all issued tools and equipment to ensure they are safe and functional.
- Fleet Inspections & Customer Management
- Safety Audits: Perform fleet inspections and immediately report to the responsible person when tyres become unsafe and require replacement.
- Fault Identification: Proactively alert customers to vehicle faults discovered during inspections (e.g., mechanical issues, wheel alignment requirements).
- Stock Management: Manage vehicle stock holdings/levels to meet customer requirements efficiently.
- Advisory: Provide proper recommendations to clients regarding operating procedures and the Health & Safety standards expected in the Tyre Industry.
- Deliveries: Deliver tyres to customer sites, ensuring a signed delivery docket accompanies every delivery.
- Administration & Communication
- Daily Workflow: Execute daily calls to customers as per Run Sheets and Service Callouts.
- Paperwork: Complete and submit all required paperwork daily without exception.
- Billing Compliance: Always obtain an Order Number from the customer before commencing or finalising work.
- Dispatch Communication: Communicate with the base regularly—specifically upon completion of a job and before travelling to the next location.
- Reporting: Inform management immediately of any discrepancies with customers.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Regulations: Observe ALL customer and company Health & Safety regulations.
- Personal Safety: Take all necessary measures to ensure your safety and the safety of others is never compromised.
- RUC Checks: Regularly check the company vehicle for Road User Charges (RUC) requirements and validity.
- Reporting Hazards: Report any damage, wear, or tear to company vehicles, tools, or equipment immediately.
- Active Participation: Attend regular management meetings regarding Health &
- Safety. You are expected to speak up and advise management if you encounter a situation you know is wrong or unsafe.
- Work Schedule & Expectations
- Availability: Must be available to perform your share of After-Hours Callouts and Saturday work.
- Professional Presentation:
- Company uniforms must be worn and cleaned regularly.
- Company vehicles must be kept clean and tidy at all times to maintain professional presentation standards.
- Conduct: Maintain professionalism when dealing with customers and members of the public at all times.
- Core Competencies
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to change tyres and operate jacking equipment safely under pressure.
- Attention to Detail: strict adherence to Order Numbers and paperwork submission.
- Safety First Mindset: Refusal to cut corners regarding jacking, machine setup, or personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements and Skills:
- At least three years of relevant experience.
- A full and clean Class 1 NZ or equivalent driver’s licence is required.
- A class 2 or 4 (HT) Heavy Vehicle Licence is highly preferred for moving client vehicles, but not required.
- Knowledge of tyre fitting and balancing techniques.
- Ability to use tyre fitting and balancing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy tyres and equipment.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Warrant of Fitness (WOF) inspection experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of vehicle servicing is an advantage.
- Experience with tyre retreading is an advantage.
- Work will be performed in a workshop environment, as well as roadside assistance.
- Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and grease.
- Physical demands include lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
- Must be NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.
This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$25 and NZ$35, depending on experience. The work hours are between 30 and 70 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5:30 pm, with rostered Saturdays at 7:30 am and 12:30 pm and rostered call-outs.
