Mattress Machinist

Key Roles & Responsibilities / Job Duties

• Operate industrial sewing, quilting, and mattress-making machinery to assemble mattress components

• Stitch, tape-edge, quilt, and upholster mattress panels according to specifications

• Cut, shape, and assemble foam, fabric, padding, springs, and other mattress materials

• Ensure accurate alignment and finishing of mattress borders and covers

• Conduct quality checks to ensure finished products meet company and industry standards

• Adjust machine settings and carry out basic machine maintenance as required

• Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with workplace health and safety requirements

• Identify and report faults, defects, or material issues to supervisors

• Comply with company policies, safety procedures, and manufacturing guidelines

Skills & Experience Required

• Work Experience:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience as a mattress machinist, sewing machinist, upholsterer, or similar manufacturing roleOR

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in upholstery, textile manufacturing, or a related field

• On-the-job training may be provided for candidates with relevant transferable skills

• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail

• Ability to read and follow production instructions and specifications

• Physical ability to handle materials and perform repetitive tasks

• Strong time-management skills and ability to work under production deadlines

• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required
