We’re looking for a dependable, safety driven Driver to join a long standing recycling operation in Canterbury. This position plays a key role in supporting responsible resource recovery and sustainable waste management practices across the region.
About the Role:
This is a hands on, community focused role involving local collections and deliveries. You’ll be part of a team that values environmental responsibility, strong safety standards, and high quality service. A Class 4 licence is preferred, but both Class 4 and Class 2 applicants must have proven HIAB experience, as HIAB operation is central to the position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Completing daily pre-starts, vehicle checks, and basic maintenance
• Carrying out collections throughout Canterbury (no travel beyond Rolleston)
• Operating the HIAB safely and confidently
• Loading, securing, transporting, and delivering recyclable materials
• Supporting safe and responsible scrap handling processes
• Occasional manual handling of loose scrap
• Maintaining high safety and environmental standards
What We’re Looking For:
• Class 4 licence preferred, or Class 2 with strong HIAB experience
• Demonstrated ability to operate a HIAB safely and competently
• HIAB certification: NZ Truck Loader Crane Operator Certification (Unit Standard 16617) is highly desirable
• Solid understanding of load securement and safe operating practices
• Reliable, safety minded, and a strong communicator
• Someone who takes pride in contributing to sustainable recycling outcomes
• Bonus: F Endorsement or OSH certification
