Our client one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing and most technically advanced steel processing businesses.

We are specifically seeking experienced operators with proven capability in laser cutting, plasma cutting, and press brake operation to join our production team across Cutting, Post Processing, and Night Shift crews.

If you have solid fabrication-based machine operating experience and understand steel processing environments — this is a genuine long-term opportunity.

The Role

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will operate advanced cutting and forming equipment to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety expectations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating laser and plasma cutting machines
  • Operating press brake machinery for accurate forming and bending
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and job specifications
  • Achieving daily production targets
  • Completing machine safety and maintenance checks
  • Conducting quality self-checks
  • Handling and moving steel materials
  • Maintaining high housekeeping standards

This is hands-on, physically active work in a fast-paced, high-output steel processing environment.

Essential Experience

We are prioritising candidates with:

  • Proven experience operating laser cutting machines
  • Proven experience operating plasma cutting machines
  • Press brake operating experience
  • Background in steel fabrication or heavy industrial manufacturing
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of material behaviour
  • Ability to work accurately from drawings and job sheets
  • A safety-first mindset

We are particularly interested in candidates from:

  • Steel fabrication
  • Heavy transport engineering
  • Agricultural machinery manufacturing or servicing
  • Sheetmetal manufacturing
  • Industrial equipment manufacturing
  • CNC machining (automotive or industrial sectors)
  • Aluminium fabrication or extrusion

While steel experience is preferred, transferable experience from aluminium fabrication, extrusion, or CNC-based precision manufacturing will be considered where technical capability aligns.
