Horticulture Technicians Wanted
We are a well-established vegetable farm located at Auckland. We supply a great variety of vegetables to our customers throughout the year.
Work Location: Auckland Region
Employment type: Permanent Positions, Full-time (guaranteed 40 hours/per week, from Monday to Friday)
Our pay: $24-$25 per hour depending on skills and experience
We are now looking for 3 Horticulture Technicians to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company.
Tasks & responsibilities
• Assisting in developing and improving planting, fertilization, harvesting, and crop processing techniques to maximize productivity and sustainability.
• Identifying harmful pathogens, insects, parasites, fungi, and weeds affecting crops and assisting in implementing effective control measures.
• Studying environmental factors that influence the health, growth, and productivity of crops.
• Conducting analyses of agricultural produce to ensure and maintain quality standards.
• Assist with daily farming tasks such as sowing, transplanting, and harvesting to ensure the healthy growth of crops.
• Providing technical advice, training, and support on horticultural technology solutions, including sensors, farm management software, and data analytics.
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing all vegetable-growing equipment.
• Developing, operating, and maintaining advanced horticultural production technologies, such as geospatial systems, automation, and data-driven solutions.
• Advising on and supplying agricultural chemicals, including fertilizers and pesticides, for crop management.
• Collecting and analyzing data for research and farm management purposes.
• Conducting tests and experiments to support horticultural research and improve production techniques.
• Assisting Agricultural Scientists and Agronomists in research, production, and the implementation of advanced horticultural technologies, such as precision agriculture solutions.
• Advising producers on best farming techniques, management strategies, and production processes to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
• Performing other duties as required by the employer.
What do you need?
- Have at least 2 years solid relevant experience in same industry/field, or
- Have a relevant NZ Level 4/higher qualification or equivalent qualification,
- Good eye for detail and an ability to learn fast
- A "can-do" attitude
- Efficient and be able to follow instructions
