Kulraj Enterprises Limited operates orchard and horticulture services in the Bay of Plenty region and requires Horticulture Leading Hands to support supervisors and lead small orchard teams. Also requires Agricultural and Horticultural Mobile Plant Operators to operate tractors and orchard machinery for a range of horticultural tasks.
Position Title: Horticulture Leading Hand
Number of Positions: 2
Location: Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $30 – $36 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week
Key Requirements
- 2 Years of experience or level 4 qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead small orchard teams in pruning, thinning, canopy work, and vine training.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor worker productivity and work standards.
- Operate orchard tools and machinery safely (secateurs, loppers, ATVs, sprayers if trained).
- Train new workers in correct horticultural techniques and safety protocols.
- Assist supervisors with planning and coordinating seasonal work.
- Carry out orchard hygiene, pest control, and biosecurity tasks.
- Support irrigation checks, orchard repairs, and general maintenance.
- Maintain simple production and activity records.
- Report vine health issues, pests, or safety risks promptly.
- Ensure careful handling of fruit and vines to maintain quality.

Key Requirements
- 3 Years of experience or level 4 qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractors, mowers, spray units, mulchers, and other machinery.
- Support orchard tasks using machinery.
- Transport bins, materials, and equipment throughout the orchard safely.
- Assist with harvest operations including bin movement and block setup.
- Perform machinery checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Follow all orchard health & safety and machinery operating procedures.
- Assist with irrigation, orchard repairs, and general horticultural labour when required.
- Monitor machinery performance and report faults or hazards promptly.
- Work with supervisors to complete seasonal orchard programmes efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of machinery use and completed tasks.
