Eagle Recruitment NZ is seeking motivated and reliable Assistant Plumbers to join commercial projects across Hawke’s Bay, Waikato and Auckland.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their plumbing career. You will start as an Assistant Plumber, with a structured pathway and employer support to progress to a registered Plumber as your experience and competency increase. You will support commercial plumbing teams on a variety of medium- to large-scale projects. You will gain hands-on experience across commercial sites while developing your technical capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with interpreting drawings and layouts

  • Supporting installation and modification of plumbing systems

  • Assisting with the installation of water, gas, drainage and sewerage pipework

  • Supporting first-fix and second-fix plumbing works (taps, toilets, showers, sinks, hot water units)

  • Fabricating and installing pipe supports and brackets

  • Ensuring all work complies with the NZ Building Code and safety standards

  • Maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety on site

Requirements and Skills:

  • 2+ years plumbing experience (commercial experience advantageous)

  • Good understanding of plumbing systems and site processes

  • Strong work ethic and reliability

  • Positive, team-focused attitude

  • Willingness to learn and progress to become a registered Plumber

  • Good communication skills

  • Be willing to undergo pre-employment medical and drug testing, background checks, and random drug testing while employed.

  • Must be NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$25 and NZ$32, depending on experience and qualification. The work hours are 30-70 hours per week, to be worked Monday-Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends.
