Eagle Recruitment NZ is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to join our client's Auckland-based workshop team.


This role is suited to a mechanic with strong servicing and diagnostic capability, and experience in tyre fitting and wheel alignment (or a willingness to upskill in this area). The position requires sound technical knowledge, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a tyre-focused automotive workshop environment. You will work in a supportive team environment with ongoing training and skill development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out general automotive servicing and mechanical repairs
  • Performing vehicle diagnostics to identify mechanical or electrical faults
  • Identifying worn or faulty components and recommending appropriate repairs
  • Using workshop tools and equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Complying with all workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Tyre & Wheel Alignment Duties:
    • Stripping and fitting tyres
    • Carrying out puncture repairs
    • Balancing wheels
    • Inspecting tyres for wear, damage, and safety compliance
    • Performing wheel alignments

Requirements and Skills:

  • Relevant automotive qualifications or minimum 3 years’ hands-on mechanical experience
  • Tyre fitting and wheel alignment experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Willingness to learn and upskill in tyre and wheel alignment operations
  • Strong faultfinding and practical repair skills
  • Comfortable working in a tyre-focused workshop environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
  • Good communication skills and a professional, positive attitude
  • Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
  • Must be a NZ Citizen, a NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.

This is a full-time permanent role, and the hourly pay rate is between NZ$28 and NZ$40, depending on experience, qualifications, and skill level.

The work hours are between 30 and 70 hours per week, to be worked Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. They may be required to work on weekends. Opportunity to earn additional income through our mobile tyre service and additional hours available during busy periods.
