We are looking for a hardworking and reliable deckhand to join our set net fishing vessel operating out of New Plymouth. If you enjoy working on the water and are keen to be part of a dedicated fishing crew, this is a great opportunity!

Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed.

  • Applicants must be physically fit and willing to learn.
  • Applicants must pass pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record.
  • Previous experience as a deckhand (preferred but not essential)
  • Must have a driver license.
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setting, hauling, and clearing of fishing nets
  • Handle, sort, and process fish on board the vessel
  • Maintain and clean fishing equipment and ensure the vessel is kept in good working condition.
  • Follow and comply with all safety regulations, procedures, and maritime standards.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and flexible schedules, including fishing trips of up to five (5) days at sea
