We are seeking a motivated and experienced Herd Manager to join our farming business located in Te Kauwhata, Waikato. You will become part of an enthusiastic team in a supportive working environment. The role offers rostered work hours with a minimum of 30 hours per week guaranteed. The pay will be $30 - $40 per hour depending on the experience.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Manage livestock breeding programs and the rearing of young livestock

Identify livestock health and nutrition issues

Supervise animal health and welfare programs

Establish and manage pastures and fodder crops for livestock production, and identify plant health and nutrition problems

Develop and implement livestock feeding plans

Implement and maintain biosecurity management measures

Manage water supply and irrigation systems

Supervise farming operations including herding, catching, drenching, and milking livestock

Oversee general farming activities such as maintenance and cleaning of livestock housing and other farm infrastructure

Supervise work routines and provide training to farm workers

Operate, supervise, and maintain farm technology systems, including data collection and analysis tools

 

Requirements

 

At least 2 years of relevant work experience, or

A Level 4 or higher qualification in a relevant field

A valid New Zealand driver’s licence is required

Willingness to learn, as on-the-job training will also be provided
