We are looking for Halal Slaughterers for the upcoming season. We are seeking candidates to work for our plants in
- Finegand, Otago
- Pareora, Canterbury
- Waitane, Southland
- Hokitika, West Coast
Job requirements:
- A team player who can work closely with others.
- Must have two years of relevant work experience
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand
Working arrangements:
- Earn a minimum of $900 to $1050 gross per week.
- Minimum 30 hours per week
- Shift times vary from 5.50am to 3.30pm and 2.50pm to 12.00am depending on site location
- We pay a minimum of $30 hourly and maximum of $35 hourly
Job Duties/Key Requirements:
Processing duties and tasks including but not limited to the following
- Halal Slaughtermen must be practicing members of the Muslim faith.
- All slaughter activities must comply with company procedure Our Methods 073 and Our Technique OT090SH.
- Animals must be positioned to face Mecca (Qibla) at the time of slaughter.
- The halal cut must sever all soft tissue below the spinal column, including the carotid arteries and jugular veins, and must be completed in one continuous movement.
- The slaughterman must recite the halal prayer ("Bismillah Allahuakbar") before and during the halal cut.
- All Halal Slaughtermen must be fully trained and competent in the relevant unit standards associated with halal slaughter.
- PPE must be cleaned and washed regularly according to required procedures.
- The slaughterman’s knife must be sterilised between every animal to ensure hygiene and compliance.
