We are looking for Halal Slaughterers for the upcoming season. We are seeking candidates to work for our plants in

  • Finegand, Otago 
  • Pareora, Canterbury 
  • Waitane, Southland
  • Hokitika, West Coast 

Job requirements:

  •  A team player who can work closely with others.
  •  Must have two years of relevant work experience 
  •  Be eligible to work in New Zealand

Working arrangements:

  • Earn a minimum of $900 to $1050 gross per week.
  • Minimum 30 hours per week
  • Shift times vary from 5.50am to 3.30pm and 2.50pm to 12.00am depending on site location
  • We pay a minimum of $30 hourly and maximum of $35 hourly

Job Duties/Key Requirements:

Processing duties and tasks including but not limited to the following

  • Halal Slaughtermen must be practicing members of the Muslim faith.
  • All slaughter activities must comply with company procedure Our Methods 073 and Our Technique OT090SH.
  • Animals must be positioned to face Mecca (Qibla) at the time of slaughter.
  • The halal cut must sever all soft tissue below the spinal column, including the carotid arteries and jugular veins, and must be completed in one continuous movement.
  • The slaughterman must recite the halal prayer ("Bismillah Allahuakbar") before and during the halal cut.
  • All Halal Slaughtermen must be fully trained and competent in the relevant unit standards associated with halal slaughter.
  • PPE must be cleaned and washed regularly according to required procedures.
  • The slaughterman’s knife must be sterilised between every animal to ensure hygiene and compliance.
