Minimum Hours per week: at least 30 hours per week

 

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and project requirements.
  • Inspect structures and prepare structural timbers and materials for construction.
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and quantity of materials required.
  • Order and select appropriate timber and building materials, and prepare layouts in accordance with project specifications.
  • Cut, shape and prepare timber and other materials using hand and power tools.
  • Assemble prepared timber components to form structures and fittings ready for installation.
  • Install and construct building frameworks including house and roof framing, subfloors, flooring, wall framing, doors, windows, panels and roofing structures.

 

Job pre-requisites:

  • A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 in a relevant field.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification.
  • Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
  • Being physically fit.
  • Must not have any criminal record.
