Job Summary:
The Forklift Driver is responsible for operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, and unload goods within the food processing and wholesale facility. This role ensures the efficient handling of food products while maintaining hygiene, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Forklift Operations:
- Operate forklifts to transport raw materials, finished products, and packaging materials safely within the warehouse and processing areas.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets while ensuring product integrity.
- Stack, store, and rotate stock efficiently to maintain warehouse organization.
Stock Management & Distribution:
- Assist in stock control, including recording movements and inventory tracking.
- Follow stock management procedures to ensure product freshness.
- Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely delivery of goods for processing and dispatch.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on forklifts and other machinery to ensure safety and compliance.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, hazards, or incidents to the supervisor.
General Warehouse Duties:
-Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the warehouse and cold storage areas.
- Assist in manual handling tasks when necessary.
- Follow company procedures for handling perishable and fragile food products.
Job pre-requisites:
- A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 in a relevant field.
- At least three years relevant experience in warehouse or logistics operations may substitute for the qualification.
- Valid forklift licence is preferred.
- Knowledge of food handling, safety, and hygiene practices is an advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of inventory systems and stock management.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Physically fit to lift, move, and operate machinery as required.
- Must not have any criminal record.
- Must have legal right to work in New Zealand.
