About the role

 

We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Duty Manager with proven experience to support the daily operations of our busy Southmall store.

 

This position is full-time, permanent role with 40 hours of work per week, from Monday to Sunday.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve or exceed departmental sales and GP targets while effectively managing wage costs; monitor performance and identify opportunities for year‑on‑year growth; ensure 100% price integrity.
  • Merchandise the department in line with best‑practice standards, creating appealing displays and optimising layout to maximise product visibility and sales.
  • Implement Foodstuffs New World promotional and pricing programmes to deliver a competitive and brand‑aligned offer.
  • Maintain high standards of store presentation, security, customer service, and productivity at all times.
  • Keep the back freezer consistently clean, organised, and well‑maintained.
  • Oversee the daily picking, packing, and processing of all customer orders for the Online department.
  • Handle customer enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally, aiming to minimise issues.
  • Support the recruitment of new team members for the department.
  • Prepare rosters that ensure adequate staffing levels while meeting wage‑percentage targets.
  • Implement initiatives that promote staff retention and reduce turnover.
  • Provide training and coaching to team members to ensure they meet required performance standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant Level 4 or higher qualification in business management, leadership, or operations management.
  • Have at least 6 months of experience working in a supermarket or similar retail environment.
  • Be available to work on the weekends and/or public holiday when required.
  • A clean driver’s licence is preferred but not essential.
