Description:

Takhar Construction Ltd is seeking skilled and motivated Painters to join our team in Auckland. The ideal candidate will prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other finishes to protect, maintain, and enhance surfaces in residential and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by removing old paint, sanding, filling holes, and cleaning them before painting.
• Apply paint, varnish, stains, sealers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to achieve high-quality results.
• Select and mix paints to obtain the required colours, textures, and finishes.
• Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper or other decorative materials where required.
• Set up and dismantle ladders, scaffolding, and protective coverings to ensure safe and efficient access to work areas.
• Assist with general site preparation, including cleaning worksites, removing debris, and maintaining safe working conditions.
• Handle, load, unload, and transport painting materials, tools, and equipment (e.g., paints, sealers, ladders, and power tools) as required.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely for surface preparation and minor repair work.
• Carry out minor surface repairs such as patching, sealing, and basic plastering to ensure surfaces are ready for painting.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and coordinate with other tradespeople (e.g., carpenters and general labourers) to complete projects efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organised condition at all times.
• Identify and promptly report hazards, equipment faults, or unsafe site conditions.
• Use appropriate protective equipment and strictly follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
• Assist with general construction and manual tasks where required, including lifting, moving materials, and supporting site operations.
• Ensure all work meets a high standard and complies with project specifications and timelines.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

• Knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques.
• Ability to select, mix, and apply paints and finishes appropriately.
• Experience using painting tools and equipment including spray guns.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
