​​ Job description

  • Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in engines and components
  • Taking apart and taking out engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other parts, followed by part inspections
  • Fixing and swapping out worn or faulty parts, rebuilding mechanical assemblies, and consulting technical manuals when necessary
  • Conducting routine upkeep like oil changes, lubrication, and engine adjustments to enhance vehicle operation and meet emissions standards
  • Putting engines and components back together post-repair
  • Evaluating and fine-tuning fixed mechanical parts to ensure proper functioning
  • Using computers to assist in diagnosing and examining components
  • May carry out vehicle inspections and provide roadworthiness certifications or specify repairs needed for certification
  • May answer service calls for roadside breakdowns
  • Services, tests, and fixes diesel engines and mechanical elements of trucks, buses, and other heavy vehicles, including transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes
  • Carry out additional appropriate tasks as assigned by the employer

  • Location: Auckland
  • Job type: Full-time
  • Pay rate: 29.00- 35.00 New Zealand dollars per hour
  • Days required: Monday to Friday
  • Hours per week: At least 30

Job Requirement

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, or a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification), or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline is required.
