Te tūranga | The role
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Technologist – SCADA & Automation to provide
technical leadership in the design, implementation, optimisation and lifecycle management of mission-critical control systems for water, wastewater and environmental infrastructure projects.
This is a senior, client-facing engineering position responsible for leading the delivery of
automation and telemetry solutions across new capital works and existing operational
assets.


The role includes a combination of:
 System design and engineering
 Office-based configuration and documentation
 Site commissioning and technical leadership
 Client engagement and technical advisory


Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
SCADA & Control Systems Leadership
 Lead the architecture, configuration and optimisation of SCADA and telemetry systems
 Develop control philosophies, functional design specifications and commissioning
documentation
 Integrate PLCs, RTUs, communications networks and field instrumentation into
enterprise SCADA platforms
 Deliver high-availability control systems for 24/7 operational environments

Infrastructure & Asset Lifecycle
 Develop preventative maintenance and lifecycle strategies for automation assets
 Analyse system performance and provide technical reporting to clients
 Support long-term capital planning and automation upgrade programmes
Project Delivery
 Act as technical lead on water and wastewater automation projects
 Commission treatment plants, pump stations, pressure sewer and remote monitoring
systems
 Provide technical support, training and documentation to clients and end users
Network & Remote Systems
 Optimise telemetry, communications and remote asset monitoring performance
 Troubleshoot complex multi-vendor control environments


Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills & experience required
Essential
 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics
or a closely related field
 Minimum 10 years’ experience in SCADA, PLC and industrial automation systems
 Proven experience in water, wastewater, utilities and FMCG environments
 Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead automation / SCADA engineering role
 Strong background in telemetry and remote asset monitoring systems
 Experience delivering control systems for 24/7 operational infrastructure
 Client-facing communication, technical reporting and project delivery capability
 Full New Zealand driver licence (or ability to obtain one)
