About the role

Aarya Holdings Limited, trading as Liquor Centre, is seeking an experienced and reliable Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy liquor retail store in Whanganui. The role involves managing staff and stock, pricing and purchasing, supporting sales growth, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and liquor retail requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Overseeing the day-to-day running of the store to ensure smooth and efficient operations
• Supervising, leading, motivating, and supporting staff members on a daily basis
• Managing staff rosters, performance, training, and mentoring to achieve business goals
• Resolving staff issues and workplace conflicts in a professional and timely manner
• Monitoring customer service standards and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers
• Deciding on product range, stock selection, and ordering stock in line with customer demand and business needs
• Liaising with suppliers and managing purchasing activities for the store
• Monitoring stock levels, stock rotation, wastage, and inventory control to minimise loss and ensure product availability
• Setting, reviewing, and updating product pricing while considering cost, margins, and market conditions
• Assisting in developing and implementing purchasing, sales, and marketing strategies to promote store products
• Planning and executing promotional activities and in-store marketing initiatives
• Maintaining store budgets, monitoring sales performance, and helping achieve financial targets
• Preparing reports on sales, stock, staff performance, and store operations as required
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety, security, and liquor licensing requirements
• Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, security risks, or operational issues promptly
• Ensuring the store is presented in a clean, organised, and professional manner at all times
• Handling customer complaints, enquiries, and escalations professionally and efficiently
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant New Zealand retail and liquor sale
regulations

Skills and experience required

• Diploma or above qualification, or at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational, stock control, and time management ability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and supervise a team positively.

Additional requirements

The successful applicant must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required by the business.
