Fire Protection Equipment Technician - Northshore, Auckland

KNZ FIRE PROTECTION LIMITED, we are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Equipment Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for ensuring all fire protection systems and equipment are installed, maintained, and fully compliant with New Zealand safety regulations and industry standards.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Installing, testing, servicing, and maintaining fire protection equipment and systems, including extinguishers, hoses, reels, hydrants, fire blankets, exit lighting, fire and smoke doors, gaseous suppression systems, passive fire and smoke containment systems, and foam-generating equipment
  • Protecting life and property by applying effective fire prevention techniques and safety practices
  • Inspecting and assessing fire protection systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Reading and interpreting complex technical documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Analysing existing fire protection measures and recommending improvements or upgrades
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and other industry professionals to support safe building and system design
  • Conducting fire risk assessments and implementing appropriate control measures
  • Researching and applying new fire prevention technologies and methods, including advanced modelling where applicable
  • Testing fire suppression methods and evaluating the effectiveness of fire protection systems
  • Maintaining accurate service records and reporting on system performance and compliance

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 2 years’ proven experience in fire protection equipment servicing or a related industry
  • Strong knowledge of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems
  • Ability to carry out inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance with high attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and compliance standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and regulations

Role Details:

  • Minimum Guaranteed Hours: At least 30 hours per week (up to 48 hours)
  • Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate $30 - $36, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
