Our client is an established civil construction contractor with a strong presence across the North Island specialising in projects involving large scale drainage, concrete construction and infrastructure associated with energy and utility works. On their behalf we are on the hunt for Senior Civil Engineers to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

This role combines technical engineering leadership with project delivery support, working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

You will be involved across multiple stages of project delivery, including engineering solutions, tender development, technical support, and mentoring site engineers.

About the Role:

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide technical guidance and engineering expertise to support project teams throughout the lifecycle of civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering advice and technical support to site and project teams

  • Reviewing and developing engineering solutions to resolve design and construction challenges

  • Supporting tender preparation including methodology development and engineering input

  • Assisting with project planning, procurement and construction methodology

  • Conducting site visits to ensure works meet design specifications and quality standards

  • Supporting quality assurance processes and compliance requirements

  • Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

  • Mentoring and guiding site engineers and junior engineering staff

About You

You will be a technically capable civil engineer who enjoys working closely with operational teams and contributing to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • 5–10 years’ post-graduate experience within civil construction or infrastructure delivery

  • Experience supporting or leading the delivery of civil construction projects

  • Strong capability in engineering design, calculations and technical problem solving

  • Experience contributing to tender preparation and construction methodology development

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ideally Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or working towards it

  • Willingness to travel to project locations across New Zealand when required

  • New Zealand Citizenship or Residency (our client is not accredited)
