Carpenter

Location: Auckland Region (working at multiple sites)

Position: Permanent, Full-time (minimum 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday but with opportunity to work on weekends)

Hourly rate: minimum $28.00 per hour, maximum $30.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

• Select and order timber and other building materials as required.
• Check the accuracy and alignment of structures using appropriate tools.
• Cut timber and assemble, then nail together shaped and prepared parts.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches and specifications to identify required materials and dimensions.
• Plan and prepare layout before construction begins.
• Install framework, prefabricated systems, and roof framing on-site.
• Fit external wall cladding and door and window frames.
• Lay sub-flooring and floorboards according to specifications.
• Fix fascia panels and sheath roofing structures.
• Join wood components by cutting and fitting joints as needed.
• May construct and install formwork for concrete work.
• Assemble pre-cut wood to form structural frameworks and interior fittings.
• May repair or restore existing fittings and fixtures.
• May work with materials such as plastic laminates, Perspex, or metals.
• Follow the determined installation procedures during construction work.

Successful candidates will-

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience; OR, NZQCF Level 4 qualification or above
• Be responsible and be sensible.  
• Be punctual and able to complete tasks in a reasonable timeframe
• Be honest and reliable. 
• Be a good team player and be able to work unsupervised.
• Be physically fit to carry out the tasks.
• No criminal convictions.  
• Be able to follow the Health and Safety rules
• Be able to provide work references if required
• Be able to take and pass random drug tests if required.
