FUREIN INTERNATIONAL TRADING LIMITED is a supermarket based in Auckland CBD, offering a wide range of grocery and daily-use products to local customers. We are looking for a capable and commercially minded Retail Buyer to join our team and support product sourcing, supplier management, inventory planning, and promotional coordination.

Key responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate and select suitable suppliers for grocery and retail product lines.
  • Negotiate supply arrangements, pricing, trading terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Review supplier performance and help resolve any supply, pricing, quality or service issues.
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock movement, pricing trends and delivery lead times using relevant business systems, and adjust purchasing decisions accordingly.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with existing suppliers and identify new product and supply opportunities.
  • Liaise with marketing and sales staff to support promotional planning, campaigns and seasonal product strategies.
  • Review product quality and ensure purchased goods meet relevant business, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, stock movement and buying outcomes for management review.
  • Analyse customer demand and sales trends to support appropriate product selection and replenishment decisions.
  • Assist in planning and maintaining an appropriate product range to meet business and customer needs.

About you

  • At least one year of relevant work experience in business, retail, supply chain, commerce or a related field required, or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher. No specific major is required if the candidate holds a bachelor's degree or higher.
  • a good understanding of supplier negotiation, stock control and retail purchasing processes
  • the ability to analyse sales performance, stock levels and pricing information to support buying decisions
  • sound computer skills and confidence using inventory, purchasing or retail management systems
  • good communication and relationship management skills
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
