Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the company’s financial records and support day-to-day accounting functions.

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial data, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with financial and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will contribute to the smooth financial operation of our centre and support informed business decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, and perform regular account reconciliations using accounting software, ensuring accurate recording of transactions related to childcare services, staff payroll, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor cash flow and track incoming and outgoing payments, including childcare fees and operational expenses, and report any discrepancies or issues to management.
  • Prepare financial reports, including monthly and quarterly summaries, maintain general ledger entries, and assist with GST returns and financial compliance in accordance with New Zealand regulations.
  • Process invoices, payments, and bank transactions, and prepare bank deposits, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly documented.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations by matching financial records against bank statements.
  • Verify financial transactions, identify and report any discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Diploma or qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • OR at least 1–2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and GST requirements in New Zealand
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently
