Plasterer

Key responsibilities

• Determine plasterboard layout and install insulation and vapour barriers where required.
• Measure, mark and cut plasterboard to size.
• Lift, position and secure plasterboard panels to walls, ceilings and battens.
• Prepare and fix corner beads into position.
• Cover joins, seams and fixing points using joint tape, plaster and sealing compounds.
• Smooth surfaces using appropriate tools, including wet brush and sandpaper, to achieve a quality finish.
• Plumb and straighten corners, angles, wall and ceiling surfaces.
• Apply and finish acoustic, insulating and fire-rating materials where required.
• Check completed work to ensure it meets drawings, specifications and site quality standards.
• Work safely on site and comply with company health and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete work efficiently and on time.

About you
To be considered for this role, you should have:

• At least one year of relevant work experience in construction field is required, or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher. No specific major is required if the candidate holds a bachelor's degree or higher.
• Good knowledge of plasterboard installation, jointing and finishing processes.
• Ability to read measurements, follow plans and complete work accurately.
• Good practical skills and the ability to use plastering and fixing tools safely and effectively.
• Good attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team and meet project deadlines.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
