About the position
We are seeking a Sales Representative (Automotive Diagnostic ICT Solutions) to join our team. This role acts as a key link between Autecs Limited’s automotive diagnostic ICT solutions and commercial clients.
The successful candidate will not only assist clients in identifying and implementing suitable computer-based diagnostic scan tools and digital calibration systems, but also demonstrate proficiency in communicating complex ICT-based diagnostic systems to professional automotive clients. The appointee will possess a sound understanding of CAN-Bus network communication and Ethernet communication protocols, enabling them to effectively consult on how these solutions integrate with modern vehicle electronic architectures, diagnostic data systems, and workshop operational environments.
The role involves developing technical sales opportunities and converting these into the sale, deployment, and integration of automotive diagnostic ICT solutions. This includes supporting clients in adopting advanced technologies such as ADAS calibration systems, autonomous driving diagnostic solutions, and electronic control system communication interfaces, ensuring compatibility with evolving vehicle network communication protocols.
This position combines product expertise, automotive technology knowledge, and consultative ICT sales practices. The successful candidate will provide technical advice, conduct product demonstrations, and support diagnostic analysis and system integration, enabling commercial clients to implement advanced diagnostic technologies within increasingly digital and data-driven automotive servicing environments.
Summary of key information
- Nature of employment: Permanent full-time
- Remuneration (gross): $30 to $35 per hour
- Overtime rate: at the rate of normal salary for any time worked in addition to an ordinary work week.
- Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 30 hours per week
- Maximum hours of work: 35 hours per week
- Location of work: Autecs’ office and workshop premises located on Druce Road, Manukau, as well as commercial client sites within Auckland
Summary of key responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with prospective distributors and industry clients, driving sales for Autecs’s advanced computer-based vehicle diagnostic scan tools, software-integrated systems, ADAS calibration equipment, autonomous driving diagnostic solutions, EV diagnostic solutions, IMMO tools, and vehicle inspection and maintenance equipment.
- Leverage technical expertise to position these ICT-based diagnostic solutions within the growing market, ensuring seamless integration with clients' operations and aligning with the latest trends in intelligent driving and the V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything).
- Represent Autecs in negotiations, sales activities, site visits, and industry events, effectively promoting the company’s offerings.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments of clients' operations to propose customised digital diagnostic products, diagnostic analysis services, and product training programmes that best meet their requirements.
- Visit prospective clients to deliver professional demonstrations, propose tailored solutions, and present detailed costings.
- Provide quotations, manage pricing negotiations, and process contracts and invoices efficiently.
- Coordinate product delivery and installation, overseeing clients’ integration processes and assisting with technical issues as needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert, combining automotive and ICT knowledge to produce and deliver technical presentations and training sessions to clients and distributors.
- Gather and assess client feedback, offering suggestions for product improvements and future development.
- Stay updated on product applications, technical services, market conditions, and promotional trends, while monitoring competitor activities and reporting insights to management.
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive client database, ensuring consistent communication of opportunities to increase sales.
- Conduct sales performance analysis, business forecasting, and identify potential for new products and services, reporting findings to senior management.
- Ensure accurate recording and management of business expenditure, adhering to company policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Key requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in related Science or Engineering disciplines (e.g. Automotive, Mechatronics, Applied Science, Computer Engineering).
- A sound understanding of and practical familiarity with automotive diagnostic software platforms, hardware interfaces, digital calibration technologies and related diagnostic systems used in professional workshop environments.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct product demonstrations of automotive diagnostic software platforms, associated hardware interfaces and integrated diagnostic systems, explaining their functions and practical applications to commercial automotive clients.
- Strong business analysis and communication skills.
- Proficient in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office suite.
- Full and clean Class 1 driver licence (essential due to regular travel to client sites and the need to transport technical demonstration equipment).
