WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
The purpose of the Maintenance Repair Technician is to ensure correct and optimised function of plant and machinery used for manufacturing wire and steel products, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
The Maintenance Repair Technician Role tasks;
- Identify and diagnose machine breakdowns
- Find solutions to bring the machine or equipment back into production as soon as possible – via short or long-term repairs, as applicable
- Identify and address breakdowns, equipment or machinery needing repair, refurbishment or replacement
- Optimise machine output by identifying bottlenecks or constraints. Review and assess workflows alongside machine operators, to identify improvements
- Basic removal, fitting, servicing of machine wear parts, consumables, lubricants etc on a periodic basis
- Highlight/report critical machine faults, or problem areas which have a detrimental effect on production output, safety or compliance
- Source replacement machine parts from verified machine manufacturers, or engage local machine tool suppliers
- Draft reports on maintenance and repair to an acceptable standard and keep appropriate records
- Write recommendations of redesign or optimise machinery on request from management
- Engage third parties or contractors as necessary – controls, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and engineers for the particular application
On a day-to-day basis, you will report to the Operations Manager & ensure that work is completed efficiently and on time, in line with the required safety & quality standards.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- At least a minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a machine operator in a similar manufacturing role
- Rural fencing industry knowledge or experience
- Experience with wire processing / fabricating machines – i.e., wire fabricated knots, hexagonal netting, fence fasteners/accessories
- Preferably with knowledge of production machinery and mechanical systems
- Ideally, with forklift training/experience
