Tiler Assistant

We are a growing tiling company based in Bay of Plenty. We have been very busy with various projects for our clients and we are currently looking for a Tiler Assistant / Apprentice to join our team.

Our position of Tiler Assistant / Tiler Apprentice will be working alongside with a qualified Tiler to assist with the following responsibilities:

• Meeting with project manager / qualified tiler(s) to study and understand plans and client’s requirements
• Prepare surfaces by removing old tiles or any other pre-existing materials and have the surfaces clean and tidy to be ready for new tiles
• Using tiling adhesive on surfaces
• Laying floors of cement, granolithic or similar composition; laying tiles of different patterns and colors to create mosaics
• Laying ceramic, clay, slate, marble and glass tiles on external and internal walls and floors
• Grout / silicone and waterproofing, screeding
• Cutting, mixing, grouting and keeping the site clean
• Following instructions and working on their own on basic tasks
• Other duties as reasonably required by project manager

The suitable applicant should have:

Attention to details; positive attitude to learn; hardworking; come to work on time; team player, able to work well with project managers.

The job location will be in Tauranga – depending on each project, will be in different places within Tauranga.

Hourly rate: from $26 per hour to $33 per hour. Minimum 30 hours per week.

What do we offer?

We will provide on the job trainings to the right candidate who is eager to learn in tiling industry. We also provide transport from our shop to work site. Tools provided. Uniforms and all PPE Provided. Hourly rate, pay is flexible depending on experience and skill level. Monday to Friday 30 hours to 45 hours per week, hours could change depending on work project.

There could be some shorter days and some long days. Occasionally you’ll be asked to work on a Saturday. So ideally, an applicant should be flexible and able to work weekends from time to time.
