We are looking for an experienced Aquaculture Technician to join our growing oyster farming operation based in Warkworth, Auckland. This is a hands-on role working across our oyster farms and associated land bases, supporting the ongoing development, monitoring, and production of oyster stock.
This position suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, has strong practical skills, and is confident contributing to both day-to-day farm operations and continuous improvement of aquaculture practices.
About the role
You will play a key role in supporting oyster production, including monitoring spat development, maintaining farm infrastructure, and contributing to operational improvements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring oyster spat growth, grading, and environmental conditions (including temperature, salinity, and water flow)
- Recording and reporting data to support stock health and production decisions
- Assisting with trials and improvements to enhance productivity and sustainability
- Planning and carrying out oyster rotations and transfers
- Supporting spat catching and early-stage care processes
- Maintaining accurate records for stock tracking and performance analysis
- Assisting with monthly reporting and operational insights
- Maintaining and repairing farm equipment and infrastructure
- Supporting hatchery systems and equipment maintenance
- Following all health and safety procedures and reporting any hazards or incidents
- Supporting wider team operations and covering duties where needed
This is a physically active role in a marine environment and requires a high level of reliability and teamwork.

- A tertiary qualification at bachelors or above in Aquaculture
- Strong practical skills and ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- Ability to monitor, record, and analyse biological and environmental data
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on improving processes and outcomes
