Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician
Key tasks and responsibilities:
· Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and technical documents
· Provide practical support in the implementation and enhancement of mechanical equipment, systems, and production processes
· Assist with functional testing and operational checks to ensure system reliability
· Carry out routine servicing, fault finding, and repair of mechanical equipment to maintain efficient operation
· Take part in technical discussions and reviews, offering input on usability, efficiency, and potential improvements
· Determine suitable tools, machinery, and materials for specific tasks and ensure their proper application
· Verify that all equipment used meets workplace safety and operational standards
· Fit, assemble, and commission mechanical parts, plant equipment, and associated systems
· Perform necessary adjustments to achieve desired performance outcomes
· Calculate and forecast material usage, labour input, and equipment requirements for maintenance and project work
· Support budgeting activities through basic cost estimation and resource planning
· Undertake site-based inspections and assist with controlled testing of mechanical components and systems
· Follow established procedures to ensure testing aligns with industry standards and internal guidelines
Gather and interpret operational data, complete technical calculations, and compile findings into structured reports and visual formats
· Keep comprehensive records to support traceability and compliance requirements
· Organise and coordinate routine checks and preventive maintenance activities for plant and machinery
· Confirm that completed work aligns with specified requirements, regulatory obligations, and contractual expectations
· Assist with quality assurance activities, audits, and compliance checks
· Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the employer
Pay: Minimum $30.00 / hour Maximum $38.00 / hour
Guaranteed hours of work per week: permanent full time, Minimum 30 hours
· Relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field OR At least 3 years of relevant work experience
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
· Skilled in mechanical installation, assembly, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance
· Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with workplace health and safety regulations
· Strong teamwork and communication skills
· Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments
· Full-time availability; may include shift work or weekends if required
· No criminal record
· Candidates need to be NZ citizen/resident
