About us
Bakshish Farm Limited is a New Zealand dairy farming business based in Mamaku, Bay of Plenty. We are seeking a reliable and experienced Herd Manager to join our farm operations team and assist with the day-to-day management of livestock, milking operations, pasture utilisation, animal health, and general farm performance.
Key duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:

Managing the day-to-day care and supervision of dairy cattle.

Overseeing milking operations and maintaining high standards of milk quality and hygiene.

Monitoring animal health and identifying livestock requiring treatment or veterinary attention.

Implementing feeding plans, pasture allocation, and stock movement as required.

Assisting with calving, mating, and herd reproductive management.

Recording and maintaining herd, production, and treatment records.

Monitoring farm equipment and reporting maintenance requirements.

Supervising and supporting farm assistants and other staff where required.

Ensuring compliance with animal welfare, health and safety, and farm operating procedures.

Assisting with general farm work including fencing, effluent-related tasks, shed hygiene, and other operational duties as needed.
Candidate requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet one of the following minimum requirements:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience in dairy farming, livestock farming, or a closely related role; or

A relevant qualification at NZQCF Level 4 or above
Applicants should also demonstrate:

Practical knowledge of dairy farm operations and herd management.

Good understanding of animal health, feeding, and milking procedures.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.

Commitment to workplace health and safety and animal welfare standards.

A current driver licence may be an advantage.
