Position Overview

The Metal Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and handling of metal and glass products. This role involves cutting, welding, assembling, and installing components, as well as manual handling of materials to support daily workshop and on-site operations.

 

Position Requirement:

  • At least 6 months' work experience in relevant industry or Level 4 trading qualification
  • Proven ability to perform cutting, welding, and fabrication work to a good standard
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction plans accurately
  • Ability to install glass and bathroom products based on drawings and specifications
  • Hold a valid New Zealand driver licence
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling heavy or fragile materials
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate metal components according to drawings, measurements, and job specifications
  • Cut, shape, and prepare metal and glass materials using appropriate tools and machinery
  • Perform welding tasks (e.g. MIG/TIG) to assemble metal structures and frames
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and construction plans accurately
  • Install glass and bathroom products in accordance with drawings and specifications
  • Assist with on-site installation work when required
  • Handle, load, and unload materials, including heavy or fragile items
  • Ensure all products are measured, aligned, and installed accurately
  • Carry out basic finishing work such as grinding, polishing, and cleaning
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment
  • Assist with other general workshop or warehouse duties as required
