We are looking for an experienced Trade Mark Specialist to expand our trade mark team.

Working under the supervision of a registered Trade Mark Attorney, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional legal, commercial, and practical advice to clients, in the areas of brand selection, clearance, protection, management, and enforcement. You will be preparing and drafting legal documents, conducting negotiations on behalf of clients and interpreting and applying relevant New Zealand and international legislation.

The role will be based in our Newmarket, Auckland office. 

To be considered you must have at least five years’ demonstrated experience in intellectual property/trade mark advice.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting client interviews
  • Taking enquiry calls from potential clients and engaging them
  • Conducting trade mark searches and providing trade mark opinions
  • Filing trade mark applications
  • Prosecuting trade mark applications, including reporting and responding to examination reports
  • Assisting with copyright and domain name issues
  • Invoicing
  • Ensuring that all deadlines are met
  • Keeping updated on industry advancements and trends
  • Ensuring that time is recorded appropriately
  • Networking with potential clients or contacts
  • Presenting, be it in-house at seminars and/or conferences
  • People management responsibilities for support staff 

You will be working a 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday. The pay range is $85,000 to $95,000 (inclusive of employer Kiwisaver contributions).
