 CALTEX TIRAU is a vibrant GAS STATION and CONVENIENCE STORE located in TIRAU (SOUTH WAIKATO ), NORTH ISLAND, New Zealand. Our diverse offering includes FUEL, grocery essentials, Lotto, a coffee café, a popular chicken and chips counter, and bakery items. Position Summary:

We are seeking motivated and experienced customer-focused Retail Assistants to manage the day-to-day operations of our busy retail store. The ideal candidate will oversee staff across various departments, including grocery, Lotto, café, and takeaway food service, while ensuring excellent customer experience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and assist them in locating products and providing product information.

  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and preferences.

  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, store policies, and security practices.

  • Process sales transactions accurately using point of sale (POS) systems, including handling cash, EFTPOS, and other payment methods.

  • Receive, unpack, and arrange stock on shelves or in storage areas, ensuring items are correctly priced and displayed.

  • Monitor inventory levels and inform supervisors of stock shortages or reorder needs. Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the sales floor, shelves, and workstations. Assist in handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently. Assist with stocktaking and inventory control tasks as required.

  • Observe workplace health and safety regulations and procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in retail or food service supervision.

  • NZ Certificate in Retail Level 3 or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory)

  • Familiarity with Lotto terminal operations and takeaway food environments.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience with inventory systems and POS software.

  • Flexible to work weekends, public holidays, and rotating shifts.

  • Basic food safety knowledge and commitment to cleanliness standards.

Employment Terms:

Full-Time | 30 hours per week

Pay Range: $33.56/hour
