Key Responsibilities
- As a Vet Nurse at Broadway Vet, you will play an important role in supporting both our veterinary team and our clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality nursing care to animals, including administering medications, oxygen, and anaesthesia under veterinary direction
- Preparing consultation rooms, surgical areas, instruments, and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment
- Assisting veterinarians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries
- Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures, including observing animals in recovery and responding promptly to changes in their condition
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and supporting effective patient care documentation
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilising examination tables, instruments, and equipment in accordance with clinic protocols
- Educating and supporting pet owners by explaining treatment plans, procedures, and post-operative or at-home care instructions clearly and compassionately
- Working collaboratively with veterinarians and the wider clinic team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Assisting with stock control and ensuring essential medical and clinic supplies are well maintained
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A relevant qualification in Veterinary Nursing at Diploma level or above
- Sound knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures and best practice standards
- Previous veterinary nursing experience in New Zealand or overseas is preferred
- Fluency in Mandarin and English is preferred, as this role involves supporting a high volume of Mandarin-speaking clients
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with both clients and colleagues
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy clinic environment
- A genuine passion for animal health and wellbeing
- A warm, friendly, and professional manner, with a strong commitment to compassionate care
