Job Title: Retail Sales Assistant

Employment Type: Full-time minimum 30 hours per week
Salary: Pay rate $24 to $28

About the Role:

We are looking for a 2 motivated and reliable Retail Sales Assistant to join our friendly team at our busy store in Blenheim, Marlborough region. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and be committed to maintaining a clean and welcoming store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greeting customers and providing excellent customer service

• Assisting customers with purchases and product inquiries

• Operating the cash register, EFTPOS terminals, and handling cash, credit, and contactless payments accurately

• Processing refunds, exchanges, and issuing receipts in line with store policies

• Balancing the till and assisting with end-of-day cash reconciliation

• Stocking shelves, rotating stock, and maintaining product displays

• Assisting with inventory control and restocking when necessary

• Ensuring pricing is correct and products are properly labelled

• Ensuring the store is clean, tidy, and safe at all times

• Checking product expiry dates and removing unsellable items

• Supporting team members with daily operations as needed

• Complying with food safety, tobacco, and liquor sale regulations

Requirements:

• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not essential

• Friendly and helpful attitude with good communication skills

• Honest, punctual, and dependable

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

• Physically fit to handle standing for long periods and light lifting

• Drug test and Ministry of Justice checks required
