Retail Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Retail Store Assistant to support the daily operations of the store. The role involves assisting customers, maintaining stock presentation, and ensuring smooth functioning of retail activities under the supervision of the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prompt and courteous assistance to customers, ensuring a positive in-store experience
• Respond to customer enquiries regarding product availability, pricing, and general product information
• Operate the point-of-sale system, including processing transactions and handling payments accurately
• Replenish shelves and ensure products are well-presented and appropriately labelled
• Receive incoming stock, check deliveries, and organise storage in accordance with store procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the store, including display areas and storage sections
• Assist in stocktaking, stock transfers, and inventory checks as required
• Gather customer feedback and communicate it to management to support service improvements
• Follow all store policies, health and safety requirements, and operational procedures
• Perform additional duties as directed to support overall store operations

Skills and Requirements

• Relevant retail experience or a related qualification is preferred but not mandatory
• Basic understanding of Indian and Asian grocery products is advantageous
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Physically fit to handle stock movement and standing for extended periods
• Flexible to work weekends, public holidays, and additional hours when required
• Ability to provide reliable references
• Good character and professional work ethic

Employment Detail

• Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (up to 45 hours)
• Pay Rate: $25 – $28 per hour (depending on experience)
• Work Schedule: Monday to Sunday, with 1–2 rostered days off
