The Role
This position is primarily centred around payroll administration, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all processes remain compliant with current legislation. Alongside payroll, you’ll also provide support across general accounts administration as needed. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing payroll and maintaining accurate employee records, including new starters, terminations, leave, and deductions
- Ensuring compliance with PAYE, KiwiSaver, and all relevant statutory requirements
- Preparing payroll reports and reconciling payroll data
- Acting as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries from staff
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information
- Raising invoices and managing accounts receivable records
- Sending client statements and resolving invoicing queries
- Monitoring overdue accounts and following up outstanding balances
- Maintaining the debtors ledger and producing aged receivables reports
- Assisting with expense processing and client charge-backs
- Supporting accurate CRM and billing information across internal systems
- Providing general support with financial reporting and administrative tasks
About You
- Proven experience in payroll administration (2–3 years+)
- Familiarity with NZ payroll legislation, including PAYE and KiwiSaver
- Experience using payroll/accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, or similar
- Strong Excel and general systems skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Clear communication skills and a helpful, team-oriented approach
- The ability to manage deadlines and work with sensitive information confidentially
