Gear Cutting Services is seeking an experienced Gear Cutting Machinist to join our team in Auckland. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in doing quality work and getting it right the first time. We are a small, close-knit team, so a practical attitude and the ability to get along with others are essential.


About the role
You will be responsible for the manufacture, repair, and modification of gears to a high standard, working with both CNC and manual machinery. This is steady, skilled work for someone who values accuracy, craftsmanship, and consistency.This is a full-time, permanent role with a minimum of 40 hours per week, plus overtime as required.


Key Responsibilities
● Set up and operate gear cutting machinery, including gear hobbing, gear shaping, slotting machines, operating CNC & manual lathes, and manual milling machines.
● Read and interpret engineering drawings.
● Measure, inspect, and verify gear accuracy.
● Maintain machinery and keep the workshop clean and orderly.
● Work independently while contributing positively to a reliable team environment.
● Have a strong understanding of industrial gearboxes.

● Proven experience as a gear cutter, with a minimum of 2–3 years of practical, hands-on experience.
