We are seeking an experienced and reliable Wood Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This role involves operating and setting up woodworking machinery to produce high-quality timber products in accordance with specifications and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Studying drawings, work orders, and sample parts to determine specifications
  • Determining machine settings, tooling requirements, and sequence of operations
  • Setting up woodworking machines and preparing timber stock for processing
  • Operating machinery to cut, plane, turn, shape, and sand wood materials
  • Monitoring machine operations to ensure accuracy and quality output
  • Removing old finishes and preparing surfaces using appropriate tools and materials
  • Applying finishes such as stains, varnish, lacquer, and paint
  • Assembling and fitting timber components and frame structures
  • Conducting routine maintenance and ensuring safe operation of machinery
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards

 


Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification OR at least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience operating woodworking machinery preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices

Abililty to work long weekends, public holiday and evening shifts. Salary range of $30.00-$36.00 per hour, depending on experience
