We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Store Manager to operate and manage the supermarket located in Kaitaia.This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong commercial awareness and people-management skills. We guarantee a minimum of 30 working hours per week and offer a competetive rate of $24-$24.50 per hour. 

Key Responsibilities


• Manage the end-to-end operations of the supermarket, develop and implement company protocols.
• Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to improve business performance, enhance service delivery, reduce operational risks, and ensure long-term profitability and sustainability 
• Manage the financial performance of the business including preparation of budgets, daily and periodic sales analysis, margin monitoring, and cost control initiatives
• Control staffing resources by planning rosters, overseeing recruitment, training, performance management, and ensuring adequate coverage across all operational areas. 
• Determine the product range and retail mix based on customer demand, seasonal trends, sales performance, and promotional opportunities to maximise turnover and profitability.
• Oversee stock control processes, including ordering, receiving, merchandising, stocktaking, and minimizing loss through effective inventory management systems.
• Drive sales and profitability by planning and implementing retail strategies, promotional campaigns, pricing control, customer service initiatives, and local marketing opportunities.
• Plan and implement advertising and promotional activities to enhance store and product popularity, increase customer engagement, and drive sales growth.
• Resolve complex or escalated customer service matters and ensure high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and presentable site environment across the retail store, and staff facilities in accordance with operational standards.
• Select and coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely procurement, equipment maintenance, and compliance with commercial terms and service level expectations. 

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven managerial experience for two years or more (supermarket or grocery preferred)
  • Alternatively hold a Diploma at level 5 or higher in Business or Management or related field
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills
  • Sound understanding of retail operations and stock management
  • Ability to meet sales targets and manage budgets
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible to work weekends as required
