Dairy Farm Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join our Mid-Canterbury dairy operation. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to build a career in the dairy industry and learn on the job within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care
• Assisting with daily animal health checks and general welfare
• Supporting calving and calf rearing during the season
• Assisting with feeding and pasture management

Milking
• Assisting with milking routines and shed hygiene
• Maintaining milk quality standards
• Cleaning and maintaining milking equipment

General Farm Duties
• General farm maintenance and cleaning
• Assisting with fencing, weed control, and other farm tasks
• Operating farm machinery (training provided where required)
• Following all health and safety procedures

What We Are Looking For

• No prior experience needed just a positive attitude and strong willingness to learn
• Reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all conditions
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to undergo drug testing and Ministry of Justice checks

What We Offer

• $26–$30 per hour (based on experience)
• Minimum 30 hours per week guaranteed
• Shared on-farm accommodation available (not suitable for families or pets)
• Supportive team environment with on-the-job training
