Job Summary

Floor Layers lay, repair, and finish a variety of floor coverings in commercial, industrial,
and residential buildings. These materials include carpet, vinyl, timber, tiles, and other
resilient floor coverings.

Key Responsibilities

• Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine job
  requirements.
• Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for welding and fabrication processes.
• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame-cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, as well as heating and hammering techniques.
• Align components to be joined using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Join metal sections using a range of welding techniques, as well as bolting and riveting where required.
• Examine welds to ensure correct bead width, penetration, and overall precision.
• Finish completed products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and applying appropriate chemical treatments such as acid baths.
• Clean and smooth welds using filing, chiselling, and grinding tools to achieve a high-quality finish.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

• NZQF level 4 qualification is required；OR
• At least two years of working experience in the relevant industry
• Physically fit and able to handle materials and equipment.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to follow Health & Safety regulations at all times.
