Gold Hives Limited operates apiculture activities in the Te Puke region and requires Beekeepers to manage apiaries, maintain bee health, and support honey production and crop pollination services. These roles are essential to ensure high‑quality honey production, efficient hive management, and compliance with apiculture and biosecurity standards.

Position Title: Beekeeper
Number of Positions: 3
Location: Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $28 – $36 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

 

Key Requirements

  • Level 4 qualification OR at least 2 years’ experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and manage apiary operations for honey production and pollination services.
  • Inspect and maintain bee colonies to ensure hive health and productivity.
  • Monitor and manage pests, diseases, and environmental risks affecting bee colonies.
  • Harvest honey, beeswax, and other hive products, ensuring quality standards.
  • Maintain beehives, frames, and apiary equipment.
  • Transport and position hives for pollination and seasonal production requirements.
  • Monitor feeding and nutrition of bees where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of hive performance, production, and seasonal activities.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity regulations and health & safety practices.
  • Assist in breeding and management of queen bees as required.
