We are now seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our workshop team. This is not your everyday mechanics job and the role covers a wide range of responsibilities as well as providing an opportunity to play an important part in a growing workshop and business. We encourage progression within the business and this could be the opportunity to help lead an expanding yard.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  •  Carrying out servicing, maintenance, repairs and overhauls on diesel vehicles, heavy machinery and equipment, with a main focus on excavators, bulldozers, rollers, moxys and trucks.
  •  Inspect equipment to identify faults, wear or mechanical issues and complete diagnosis and breakdown repairs.
  • Arrange, fit and install required parts and materials.
  • Complete accurate pre and post inspection checklist's on all hire age machinery.
  • Help keep the workshop tidy, organised and safe and support general housekeeping and efficiency improvements in the workshop and on site.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  •  Relevant qualifications in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Engineering (Heavy) or a recognized overseas equivalent.
  •  Minimum 2 years experience of servicing, repairs and/or rebuilds on heavy diesel machinery
  • A clean license with a minimum of Class 1 or 2. A willingness to support teammates and help out with other duties when needed.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal Excellent problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
  •  NZ residency or a valid NZ Work Visa
