Our client is an established and growing civil construction business.  On their behalf we are on the hunt for an experienced Regional Manager to take ownership of a developing region with significant growth potential.

This is a leadership role suited to someone who thrives on autonomy, enjoys building high-performing teams, and is confident managing both project delivery and client relationships across a diverse portfolio.

About the Role

You will be responsible for overseeing all projects across a regional network spanning Taranaki through to Wellington, with additional oversight of select South Island projects.

Acting as the senior leader for the branch, you will ensure successful project delivery, financial performance, and continued client satisfaction while driving future growth.

This position will initially take a hands-on approach to project management, stepping in to support delivery where required, particularly across smaller-scale works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee multiple civil construction projects from tender through to completion

  • Manage branch financial performance including forecasting, cost control, and reporting

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and councils

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to support regional growth

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to meet programme and quality targets

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to site teams including supervisors and foremen

  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety, environmental, and quality standards

  • Support tender submissions and contribute to both priced and non-priced proposals

  • Monitor project progress, manage variations, and ensure commercial outcomes are achieved

About You

You are a well-rounded civil construction professional with strong leadership capability and a commercial mindset. You are comfortable working at both a strategic and hands-on level and enjoy building relationships as much as delivering projects.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing civil construction projects and teams in New Zealand

  • Strong understanding of project financials (budgets, claims, variations, forecasting)

  • Proven ability to work with local councils and public sector clients

  • Experience delivering structural or infrastructure-focused projects

  • A relevant qualification in Engineering or Construction Management (preferred but not essential)

  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work autonomously

This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with genuine scope to make your mark and drive growth in a developing region.
